This link (what's the right term?? article??) is all about veganism and the change in the environment that could come from switching to a vegan diet. I'm eating INO while typing this, yikes. Basically, meat and dairy industries have horrible affects on the environment, in some ways I had no idea of. This articles touches base on 4 issues indulging in animal products causes: resource depletion, habitat loss, global hunger, and climate change. As the meat and dairy industry grow, the need for more land to raise these anamals is in higher demand. This causes a lack on land and the destruction of the Amazon to provide for these needs. We also lose more water and fossil fuels as these industries grow. The even crazier problem animal agriculture has is the affect on climate change. Whenever the causes of climate change are discussed, fossil fuels are the main issue. Methane is 25 to 100 times more destructive than CO2 and cows are producing 150 billion gallons of methane per day. Methane also has a global warming power of 86 times that of CO2. I really like this article because despite there being the same information you'll find anywhere on this topic, it's broke down pretty nicely (and there's a picture). Sorry this was 2 hours late, I have a problem with time management and incorporating my napping into good times.
yes it would be a good idea for the people to start eating the vegan way and it would maybe help the environment in some way. But i believe all the animals in this world are meant for something and that we can eat meat without harming the environment
