Eye-Opener

After doing all this research, I have learned a lot about how our food comes to be. This unit was an eye-opener because it taught how to economy and our food is tied together. Before this research report, I never asked myself where the food I eat comes from, nor did I care. My mindset has changed drastically; however, if I could go back 4 years, I probably would not have changed my ways of eating because in a way, it is normal. I still see myself eating fast food places, but I am more conscious about my eating. If I could change something about the food industry, I would change the way the food is made. It would be safer if animals were raised naturally and to lower the use of antibiotics. The process of how food comes to our table is not as simple as it seems. There is a lot to it and lot of decisions are made. Companies try to profit as much as they can from selling food, so they will always find ways to cheat the system and save time/save money. I think the way to avoid these "bad" foods will be to simply stop eating from fast food places and to start buying your own food from places like the farmers market. America is known to be full of fast food places so it will not be easy to get away from these modified foods, but it is not impossible.
