This article discusses the main idea of eating disorders in our society and 3 factor that can affect the growth of these eating disorders. The first idea shown is the media. It discusses how people want to live up to images as seen in on social media like twitter, instagram, etc. It not only talks about women that have disorders but also men which seems to be good because some people do not realize that men can go through these disorders as well. That section discusses how people of our society want to have the figures like people we see on our social media, they want to be thin or muscular and it makes them stoop to things they shouldn't have gone down to, harming themselves. The second section is called media literacy and this section basically goes to tell the reader that the ideal body is not achievable and there will always be something different than the body that is wanted or the image. Whatever the case may be, the images themselves aren't also exactly real. Things on magazines or internet may seem real but are actually pretty fake themselves. These constant swarm of images lead teens and adults to believe that being accepted will only be reached with those features they see. Parents are another key section in this article. The best thing for parents to understand is that this was not their faults. The best way to cope with the situation is to evaluate the problem and address it with things that could help to adjust self confidence in the family member who is going through this issue. The issue is not easy to overcome but with proper guidance and help it can be better.
