Maybe it’s the pessimistic side of me, but I truly don’t believe we can find a way to put an end to trolls. It’s just not something that can be properly regulated. People just aren’t that simple. If we attempt to push against trolling then what will happen? They clearly go out of their way to disturb others, so what will stop them from trying to go around the roadblocks that we make? There are some people in this world that are just problematic and that’s exactly what a troll is. They are there to get a rise out of us. We shouldn’t stack anger and frustration upon those that want us to do that exact thing. I recognize the fact that some of the remarks that trolls do aren’t as easily brushed off as other. It’s just we are here. This is the age of technology that’s constantly in motion and this is one of many flaws that come with global interconnection. But, let’s get past this and look at cute pictures of animals or something.
I completely agree with the idea that trolling will never actually go away. Someone will always have something negative to say and will find humor in instigating things with someone, in this instance it just happens to be on the internet. I think the bigger picture of trolling, and basically this whole internet thing, is how we react to the negativity thrown our way. It not only defines our character but also builds up a thicker layer of skin we all kind of need to go on with life. Its hard to just ignore things said about us, but like you said, this is what comes of what we made of our current age. So we can either dwell on everything said about us on the internet or we can internalize and move on. Either way, what has been said will have always been said and how we react to it will define our character and how we build on top of it for the rest of our lives.
