How my views have changed

At the beginning of this lesson on trolling and anonymity I was so sure that nothing should be anonymous on the internet. I never really saw the pros because I was so focused on the bad side and the horrible things that can happen when being trolled. I now believe that anonymity is crucial to our society and it can help out so many people. I never thought of how it would be helpful to not have your name attached to every single thing you do online, now that seems like such a simple thing to want. I also think it is useful for people who suffer from diseases and need help or people who need advise on something personal to be able to ask anonymously and receive the help they need. Overall I think that the freedom of anonymity is very important and while some people abuse the right, everyone deserves to have it.

  1. Same here. I never before realized the benefits that online anonymity can have.

  2. I really feel the same way about what you're saying. Anonymity is an important right that should not be abused just like any other freedom. I think a lot of people learned from this unit of online and anonymous, and even if their views didn't change like yours and mine did, then at least they became more educated and more aware of what's happening in this difficult society.

  3. I feel the same way! As we read more into it, I realized people relied on anonymity because they had to, because to them it's as if there's no other choice. Yes there's a lot of trolling because for some reason people get a kick out of it and it's terrible, but if we were to discourage anonymity then how many people would no longer have a safety outlet? I still believe their should be slight censorship, but I feel we should look for a way to achieve this without removing the anonymous identity from the internet.
