Anonymity
There are various reasons to why people use anonymity online. A reason I did not state yet is to secretly seek advice without exposure of personal elements to the public, such as the username or profile picture. It is understandable that the poster does not want others to know, but it can also cause a disturbance online. Others may be confused to who is really asking this question, and if it is really appropriate to do this at the right time. Also, there is a possible risk of hacking involved. If someone willingly responds to the unknown user's question, he or she may have their personal information taken away, because hacking involves using other people's personal information to access money into their pockets, and so they do this by fooling others into thinking that such a simple question is necessary to ask. Be careful on the internet! It is best to answer the question to yourself instead of having the answer at your fingertips.

People use anonymity in many different ways. I agree with your statement "to answer the question to yourself instead of having the answer at your fingertips" because people take risks on the internet. I like that :)
