After two blog posts and an essay, it's hard to think of more to talk about for online and anonymous. But as I was shopping for my Secret Santa gifts, I started thinking about the anonymity that comes with Christmas time.
This topic may be kind of a stretch, but I think that with gifting in the holiday season, there's a lot of anonymous acts, such as a mystery-gifting Secret Santa type of thing, or even just the act of donating toys to kids. No one really expects credit. Likewise, those receiving the gifts don't need to know who their Secret Santa is. There's something pleasant about the mystery of the anonymous gifter. A person doesn't need their name on a gift to still be able to share love and joy this holiday season which is why I think that the holidays can be a very good example of positive anonymity. And I'm sure there's many more positive forms of anonymous acts, regardless of the bad ones made by trolls. Don't let the trolls ruin the good parts of life for everyone else.
Sorry this is feels really out-of-place, but I'm running out of ideas. Merry Christmas! Break is only 4 days away!
This was amazing, the anonymity that you recognized in the holiday spirit is great. The holiday is suppose to bring happiness and you can't let the Grinch steal your Christmas. Instead, you change his heart and have him join you.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great example of positive anonymity and perfect for the holiday season. Anonymity during Christmas time not only helps spread kindness and love but adds a magical sense to things.
ReplyDeleteI think it's nice that you were able to connect Secret Santa to our unit. It actually reminds me of a video that Nigahiga posted on YouTube around Thanksgiving where he ran around in a ninja costume giving out bags with needed items to the homeless. I like to think that anonymous positivity grows during the holidays.
ReplyDeleteYou made a really great connection. I never really thought about the anonymity that comes from the holidays. It is nice to know that there is still some goodness in humanity. (I can't wait for break!)
ReplyDeletethis is exactly what i was going to write about!! I totally agree with this. also sending gift to a secret admirer-ers.
