Ok this is kind of going off of Mariah's idea (because I really liked what she said about anonymous art). But whenever I read a poem or a book and see that it is written by "anonymous," it actually makes me pretty sad. I understand the comfort that comes with anonymous posting, but I wish that people could be happy to express their creativity and individuality, and the fact that we live in a world that would put down creative people like that really sucks. If you post something or release your work to the public, then be proud about it. And if you're not truly proud of your work, then should you really be doing it?
There will always be people out there who dislike or hate other's idea of art, so should it matter on whether those people are disapproving of "anonymous" or disapproving of a real name? No one should have to live their life following other people's criticisms because everyone is a valuable individual on their own.
So post what you want to, or don't; do it for yourself and not for anyone else's evaluation on your name. I know that anonymous work will never really stop, and at this point in the world it probably shouldn't stop. I just think it would be nice if people were able to share things, put their names on it, and not have to worry about being put down by harsh, judgemental words.
I really like the part of your post were you say "do it for yourself and not for anyone else's evaluation on your name" because I also find myself feeling sad or sorry for someone who posts amazing anonymous work. I also wish sometimes that I could look that person up and see more works of art or writing that they've done but it's really hard when there is no name or easy way to find them. While they may get put down by some they will also be given praise by others and I think that's important too.
