Trolling
In the beginning of this unit I did not know what an "online troll" was. I always believed it was a person who created memes and shared it with everybody or a person who posts humorous videos, but now that we're getting to know what a troll is. I am beginning to understand that they are not friendly people. They insinuate themselves into debatable posts and start posting rude-filled comments. Furthermore, they deliberately post offensive and proactive material in order to hurt and upset the person. For example, in an article that we read. It discusses how Zelda Williams was trolled so much that she deleted her twitter account. Trolls were harrasimg her and causing her much pain. Therefore, we should find solutions on how to stop trolling. I for one believe that having a moderator on what people comment is a good idea. Someone checking comments to make sure that the comment is on topic and uncruel. This can stop trolls from trolling

I also didn't know what an online troll really was until I found out recently that they are bad people who want to get attention. I truly agree with the idea of having a moderator on what people comment to avoid negative, unnecessary comments such as trolling. This would really change the outlook of the internet.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I was not the only one who thought trolls were the one's who made meme's haha. Once we started to converse with the whole class, I was thrown back and thought, " Ohhh! Those trolls!". Since I am not a person who is regularly attacked by trolls, I have unfortunately disregarded this topic. However, not forgotten it either. I have seen it happen, and am no surprised that minorities and women were targets. It is so common I am ashamed to say that Meme creator was the first thing that came into my head now. Nothing wrong with thinking that at first, but it showed just how naive and ignorant I was. Of course, that is just me. I felt that way, especially since I am a person with such strong opinions that I could not believe that had slipped from my mind. This is a serious matter that should be taken seriously and also taken into consideration. It needs to be brought up to the world, especially towards children (since they are now the new generation and tech savvy kids) and taught with care. I hope someone who is like me does not forget what is important and then regret it in the future as I am now. I am thankful that I have realized my mistake and hope to bring more awareness in the future.
