Anonymity

Online anonymity is like a mask. It allows one to hide behind their computer screen without worry of repercussions. It allows people to show their true selves and people can be cruel.The ability to be anonymous online opens up dangers. You never know who you are talking to, and you don't know who these people could be. When reading through the articles we have read in class we learn that when people are not bound by society's rules and are capable of not having anyone know who they truly are they find that they can get away with many things. Unbound from fear of repercussion or discovery, these people can release their inner demons, not caring about the way they affect other people. This is why I believe that social media should try to help prevent the abuse that sometimes follows with anonymity.
