Reflection

In this unit, we learned about anonymity and how it affects the internet. Online, nobody is safe. Anyone can be harassed by trolls. Trolls are people who annoy others and harass them purely for entertainment. They want to see people's reactions when they say mean and harmful things about them, anonymously. The fact that it is anonymous allows them to do this so easily. There are not many ways to stop them from trolling, but some people are starting to take action. People are creating things such as block lists, which help users find out who the trolls in these online communities are. The problem is that the trolls can easily make new accounts and no one will know who they are. Hopefully in the future, there will be ways to completely get rid of these internet trolls, without getting rid of anonymity; however, we will just have to deal with it as of now.
